Program and portal parser updates
Updates are split into program and portal parser updates. The first ones ensure the software works smoothly, while the latter guarantee access to the video platforms supported into the future. The providers change the access methods from time to time and the program needs to take this into consideration in order to continue offering the relevant service. Portal parser support is guaranteed for 1 year after purchase of the application. After this, although MyTube BIGPACK 5 is still largely functional, it is not possible to guarantee updates to the access protocols over an extended period. So please upgrade your software if you have problems accessing specific portals after your year’s free support. A complete up-to-date version is available from Download.
Update connection
Generally, the program updates itself automatically when it starts up. However, if you use a firewall where program addresses need to be explicitly authorized, you may find that although you can access the video platforms supported with no problems, you cannot access the server address for the updates. Please check your settings in this respect if you suspect that the software is not updating. Please consult your firewall documentation for details.

 

As well as overzealous firewalls, anti-virus programs can also cause problems for MyTube BIGPACK 5. As well as the usual monitors and scanners, many products also keep a keen eye on internet connections. So if you have connection problems, it is also worth checking these settings. Please consult your anti-virus software documentation for details.
Video download unsuccessful
Sometimes MyTube fails to download a video and this can be for various reasons.
  • 1. There are problems with the internet connection. Please check your internet connection in Windows and your hardware if necessary (see ’1′ below).
  • 2. The video was deleted before the search index was updated. Check that the video is present using your browser (see ’2′ and ’4′) below.
  • 3. The video is marked by the owner as ‘not public’ or ‘private’. Check the access to the video using your browser (see ’3′ and ’5′) below.
  • 4. The video is protected by copyright and cannot be distributed in all countries for licensing reasons. Check that the video is present using your browser (see ’4′) below.
  • 5. The video is in a secure area. Check the access to the video using your browser (see ’5′) below.
  • 6. MyTube BIGPACK 5 is out of date. Up-to-date versions are available from Download.
1: No internet connection
Use other programs to check whether there is a connection between your computer and the internet, ideally using different programs which use different internet protocols, e.g. an e-mail program, a messenger and a browser. If there is no connection with any of the programs, it is likely that there is either a hardware error or a firewall is blocking the connection completely.

 

Hardware error:Call up the user interface for your DSL modem (using the Fritz! Box or via http://fritz.box) and check whether there is a connection to the nearest DSL hub and the login process has completed successfully. If you cannot access the interface, check the cable and connections between the computer and the modem. Call up the Windows device manager to check whether a network card hardware error is displayed. The ‘Network environment’ of the Windows operating system is also a good place to start, as it offers tests to check a connection and possible solutions to problems.

 

Firewall:Check your firewall settings. Here, you can find the general settings (global block) and those assigned to individual programs. Please consult your product-specific documentation for details. Some services also block access after a purported attempted breach for a specific period (often a few minutes). In this case, a reboot will help reduce this period of time.
2: Search index out-of-date
Sometimes, purely by coincidence, you can attempt to download a video which has just been withdrawn by the owner or removed for licensing reasons. Although the link is still in the search index and stays there until it is next updated, the video itself is no longer available.
3: Not public
Private videos are accessible to their owners, but not always to everyone. Many users use platforms such as YouTube exchanging private videos among a small circle of friends. As these videos are marked as ‘private’ or ‘not public’, they are not available for general download but they can sometimes accidentally show up in the search index.
4: Licensing problems
As the sales channels for films and music are not always clear and manageable, there are many disputes between the operators of video platforms and owners of the rights, even for ‘private’ videos (for example, when copyrighted music is added to home-made video clips). Especially with music videos, the problem arises that videos are blocked because of ongoing disputes and/or negotiations, which means they cannot be downloaded in all countries.
5: Offensive content
Sometimes, videos can be reported as offensive by other users and then deleted by the site operator or moved to a separate area which can only be accessed by entering user data. These videos are withdrawn from access by downloaders, like ‘private’ videos.
6: Software out-of-date
If the operator of a video portal has changed the internal structure of its services, you will need a modified version of the software. Use the portal parser update function. More details can be found under ‘No search results from a video portal’ and ‘Program and portal parser updates’.
Checklist does not work
The same reasons that make downloading impossible can also lead to a video not being included in the checklist. For details, see ‘Download not possible’.
Cannot play
If the software’s media player cannot play a video or does not play it correctly, please check the following:
  • FLV files: Adobe Flash Player installed?
  • WMV files: Is Windows Media Player installed?
1: Flash Player
In order to play videos in Flash format (FLV), MyTube BIGPACK 5 needs Internet Explorer and the Adobe Flash-Player add-in for the Microsoft browser installed. Generally, the fact that Flash Player is not installed is detected during the installation process and the user is sent to the relevant Adobe download page.
Proceed as follows to install Flash Player at a later date.
  • Start Internet Explorer (you can only get the ActiveX control element you need by installing through IE) and enter http://get.adobe.com/en/flashplayer/
  • Click on ‘Agree and install now’ button and follow the instructions.
  • Restart your computer after installation.
  • Afterwards, make sure you keep your version of Flash Player up-to-date. Update reminders are generated automatically.

Under some circumstance, the video will not play if it is not (or no longer) available or there are legal or content problems. For details, see ‘Download not possible’.
2: Windows Media Player
In order to play videos in WMV format (Windows Media), MyTube needs Microsoft Windows Media Player (WMP) to be installed first. Proceed as follows to install WMP if it is not already installed.
  • Open a web browser and enter this adress.
  • Click on ‘Next’. The download requires a validity check.
  • Follow the instructions for the validity check and the download and installation.

Under some circumstance, the video will not play if it is not (or no longer) available or there are legal or content problems. For details, see ‘Download not possible’.
Cannot convert flash files
If the program’s converter does not convert a flash video, please check the Adobe Flash Player installation. To install Flash Player see above under ‘Cannot play’.
No search results from a video portal
The internet is a constantly changing phenomenon. This means that the operators of video portals sometimes change the internal structures of their services – and thus invalidate the basic principles of programs such as MyTube BIGPACK 5. From our perspective, we counter this by adapting the functionality of the software to the changed conditions and providing our customers with portal parser updates. The portal parser is responsible for accessing the platforms supported.

 

However, if the MyTube software is too old, no more portal parser updates are available. However, we do offer our customers special upgrade packages at affordable prices in these cases. Customers are given ample warning by MyTube BIGPACK 5 and given a discounted order option. Alternatively, you can send a request to support on support@s-a-d.de quoting your old serial number. Support will then send you all the information you need to place an order.
Too many search results
Where searches produce more than 500 results from all the portals supported, the amount of information can put too much strain on your system and the program and it will no longer respond or appear as if it is not responding. If this is the case, make your search more specific or do not search all portals.
Can I use the videos I have downloaded for commercial purposes?
Generally, commercial use of the videos is not allowed as they are virtually all protected by copyright. In order to use the content, you need explicit permission from the holder of the copyright.
Can I use the videos I have downloaded on my own website?
Although, for example, YouTube allows videos hosted by providers to be embedded into third-party pages, the direct use of downloaded videos is not normally allowed as the material is protected by copyright. In order to use the content, you need explicit permission from the holder of the copyright.
MyTube BIGPACK 5 will not start (.NET error)
You are missing what is known as the “.NET framework” from Microsoft or the components are not working properly.
.NET is a fundamental component of the operating system and should always be installed, but problems can occasionally occur. Take the following steps to solve the problem (skip any items which do not apply to you.)
  • Uninstall MyTube BIGPACK 5
  • Uninstall all .NET framework versions by going to “Control Panel/Software” (Windows XP) or “Control Panel/Programs and Functions” (Windows Vista and Windows 7).
  • Browse to http://www.microsoft.com and find the download center.
  • 4. In the download center, enter “NET Framework”.
  • 5. Download Version 3.0 including SP 1 and install the software (.NET Framework 3.0 SP1)
  • 6. Then install the .NET Framework 3.5 update.
  • 7. Now reinstall MyTube BIGPACK 5 and test.
